In researching the most beautiful destination weddings in the world, by viewing the most beautiful wedding PHOTOS in the world, I realized that your background is very important! I wasn’t going to get the stunning pre-ceremony, getting ready shots that I wanted if I booked us into the Howard Johnson’s. So I scoured the vacation rental sites for luxury Paris apartments and came across the most beautiful apartment I think I have ever seen!
I chose an antique-furnished, gilded jewel box of an apartment of the Haussmann style, dating to the 1860’s. It simply didn’t make sense to invest in world-class photography without a worthy backdrop, right? Plus, we were able to stay all week, making this our honeymoon hotel. And let’s face it, that HAD to be special! We rented our kids a spacious, but more modest apartment about a mile away… it was our honeymoon after all! Plus they were enjoying getting to know one another and exploring the city on their own.
As for the kids, the two dark blonde girls in several photos with me… and well, the ones who LOOK like me… are my daughters Savannah and Sealy, aged 17 and 16 at the time (March 2015). The tall handsome young man who looks like a brunette version of Wes is, of course, Wes’s oldest son, Chase, who was 24 at the time. The darker brunette is his lovely bride Lauren (his fiancee back then); and the blonde is his middle child, daughter Lexi. Wes’s youngest child, son Bridger, was not yet on great terms with his father after his parents’ divorce years earlier and declined to join us. (Don’t worry; we won him over in time, and you’ll see him in pictures starting as soon as August of that same year.)
I have to admit I SO enjoyed putting together every detail of this wedding and really of this entire trip to unite our families. I lived on the etsy website and found all the cute accessories pictured…. the “No Ugly Crying” hankies, the customized cards for my sweet groom, the “I Do” bridal flip flops, the custom memory bracelets I designed for each of the girls, and all the other fun little touches. I was especially pleased to find a craftsman online who could take my fingerprint and embed it into Wes’s platinum wedding ring. What a special touch that was.
March 9, 2015 was truly a day for our family to remember and cherish. And I thank you for visiting and being our honored guest as well! XOXO
