We held our ceremony at the American Cathedral in Paris. I had wanted to use the Chapelle Expiatoire, but let me tell you, those people don’t return phone calls. Or emails. Or smoke signals. So I figured it wasn’t meant to be and moved on to what I believe was truly our perfect venue. The staff was so accommodating, and the location was lovely. Our children were encouraged to participate by reading scripture which was a beautiful touch.
In reality, we were already married when we arrived in Paris. Shhh! You can only be married in Paris if you live there the preceding 40 days OR you have a valid marriage license from your home country. So January 20, 2015 we were quietly married in a simple ceremony on top of Enchanted Rock, the place of our first date and our first kiss. The only people joining us were our minister, my younger daughter Sealy who wanted to play “At Last” on guitar for our first dance, and my friend Tami who took photos.
Both ceremonies were beautiful, and each holds a special place in my heart. And what gal doesn’t like celebrating TWO anniversaries?
